About Mike Warner
As Vice President and CISO at Oshkosh Corporation for 12 years, Mike engineered, evolved, and sustained the award-winning1 cybersecurity program for this specialty vehicle innovator and Fortune 500 critical infrastructure enterprise which has $8 Billion in revenue, 150 global locations, and 15,000 team members. Having started from greenfield, the security program matured under his leadership until, at the time of his departure, it was ranked in the top 10% worldwide.
Mike’s accomplishments reflect a business leader who finds himself in technology. He readily aligns with business strategies and shapes security into a marketplace enabler even as he ensures chaotic cyber risks are managed to acceptable levels. He readily builds credibility with each new member of the Board of Directors and C-suite.
Effectively a fractional CIO the entire time he was also CISO, he spent approximately 20% of his time on, and received high praise under two different leaders for, missions that spanned the entire IT organization. Assignments included stepping in under tragic circumstances as the acting executive for the enterprise infrastructure function and sustaining it for over 18 months, completely reorganizing a team of nearly 200 infrastructure staff. He worked with Human Resources to re-define career paths and salary ranges across all of IT, built the Project Management Office (PMO) from inception, and structured the financial function for the entire IT organization. Mike has led teams of up to 230 people and managed budgets of up to $55 million.
Before taking on the CISO role at Oshkosh, Mike held various positions of increasing responsibility including divisional CIO for one of its business segments. This experience allows him to scale from a global enterprise mindset to that of small and medium businesses.
Prior to joining Oshkosh, Mike held leadership and engineering positions with various Fortune 1000 companies, and was an officer in the United States Navy, serving on both surface warships and submarines.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Science engineering degree from the United States Naval Academy, a Master of Science from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Business and IT Management, numerous industry certifications,2 and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Mechanical Engineering.
At SecuriThink we value Mike’s extraordinary ability to switch between strategic vision and pragmatic implementation, a talent captured in one of the first things he ever said to us: “I don’t want to build a $10 fence around a $5 horse.”
Mike Warner is now collaborating with SecuriThink, both as an executive advisor to our clients and in bringing to market field-tested cybersecurity solutions based on many of the obstacles we’ve conquered and the wins we achieved together.

More About Us
How We Know What Done Looks Like
While cybersecurity standards and best practices advise what to do, they rarely define how much to do. It is critical to understand that cyber risk can never be eliminated and, at a certain point, there are diminishing returns on investment. Setting the goal for what is “good enough” is both a business decision and a judgement call by experienced security practitioners.
Our cybersecurity maturity journey is the story of “how we know what done looks like”. The SecuriThink team has already made the journey so we can show you the way.
